And in More Really Good WKCTC News…

I love Dr. Wally and former Mayor Gerry Montgomery. First of all, they're darling. Second, Dr. Montgomery has done all sorts of lovely things in the medical field, including helping ChildWatch protect vulnerable children from continued abuse. Third, folk say Mayor Montgomery was among Paducah's very best mayors. That was before I moved here, but I don't doubt it for a minute. I mean, just look at her whipping around Downtown on a Segway at last month's Bubble Q! Really, how cool is that? OK, so they've done yet another wonderful thing. According to WKCTC's fab Janett Blythe, the Montgomerys have stepped up to the canvas with the first big pledge to the Paducah School of Art. The amount: $100,000. Now, if fundraising chair folks John and Kristin Williams (also darling) can get 29 more people to do the same, the school will be fully funded. Or else we could all chip in a little bit and help bring the school to life. The Paducah School of Art will be located in the old 50,000-square-foot Kitchens Inc. building in LowerTown. In the meantime, the gorgeous artist Sarah Roush is providing temporary quarters for the School of Art at her 409 Broadway studio. Painting and ceramics classes begin there on Aug. 18. And a community open house is set for Aug. 9, noon-9 p.m. Tours of the facility will be available and faculty and staff will be on-hand to answer questions about the programs and classes. Everyone is invited, so be sure to stop in and say hello!
