Friday, May 18

Friday night, I was sitting with my handsome boyfriend, friends and fabulous gal pals at Martin Fierro’s. I was enjoying my usual vodka and soda water when something beautiful caught the corner of my eye. I glanced across the street to the Market @315 on Broadway to see the window display construction that was going on after hours. Among the lovely things in the window was a very large yellow sun hat. I immediately stood up and insisted that two of my besties, Bela and Shannon, join me in going across the street to check out this hat.
We crossed the street to find that the store was, unfortunately, closed. We proceeded anyway to peer through the windows. Not only was there a yellow hat, but inside the store were all shapes and colors of FABULOUS hats! We were just ooohing and aaahing over these hats! They very nice women in the Market @315 saw how enamored we were and let us inside! We each tried on hat after hat and all found ones we love. I purchased the black-and-white hat (above)!
Every girly girl MUST go check out these hats! They are simply wonderful! They are made by the San Diego Hat Company and are totally multi-functional! With the Kentucky Derby and Harrah’s Metropolis Derby Eve Party here at Bluegrass Downs, they’re perfect for the race track or maybe a lunch outdoors.
My new favorite hat has two very cool features:
First, it’s totally packable! You just fold the brim down, roll it up and throw it in your bag. When you arrive at your destination, unroll it, give it a shake and it bounces right back to its original shape!
Second, if you’re headed to the beach or pool in your fantastic new hat, you’ll be happy to know the material has a rating of UPF 50+. Well, if you’re like me, I had to Google UPF, and found that it stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. In simple words, this hat blocks 97.5% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays! Look fabulous and say goodbye to skin cancer!
