Camera in one hand, cocktail in the other, MareMare shares her favorite people, places and parties in Louisville. Find her “finds” intriguing? Then go check ‘em out. And take her to dinner after. Oh, she does corporate stuff, too.

Laura K
Giving ‘em something to talk about (with style!) Promotional services of all kinds are for hire. Fashion, travel, food and art musings are complimentary.

Kelsie Gray is a poetess, pie alchemist, and English teacher. She lives with three cats who all suffer from varying degrees of insanity and makes a hobby of photographing herself in bathtubs that do not belong to her.

Suzanne Clinton
Serving up the random online musings of an over-thinking 40-something liberal with a serious attitude problem and a dog that eats its own poop since 2005. Read her at Bizzyville.

Friday, May 18

Sorry, this isn’t really iListy Paducahy. But since our readers likely drink a fair amount of Paducah water (think ice cubes for your gin and tonic), I thought I’d go ahead and post it. Paducah Sun Reporter Joe Walker and Photog Lance Dennee made me teary all over again with this extremely lovely piece on my father-in-law, Jim Brockenborough — known as Brock to many, and Bop to his family and our friends.
Bop passed away April 5, after a tough battle against cancer. He left behind quite a legacy, including the Paducah Water plant on 8th Street. As a more than 30-year member of the Water Board — most of those as president — Bop played a critical role in planning and building this plant. He was extremely proud of it.
This past Friday, the Paducah Water team, board of directors and city officials held a very touching ceremony to name the building the W.J. Brockenborough Water Plant. The mayor spoke. Paducah Water GM Glen Anderson spoke. Board President Bob Johnston spoke. And, following on the heels of the PRA reception held an hour earlier (see below), Bruce Brockenborough spoke. It was just all so sweet. (That’s Bruce and his mom, Pat, in the top photo, and Glen and Pat in the next one.)
If you missed the story, it’s in the Sun archives. And on my desk.
Congratulations, Bop. And many thanks to Paducah Water for such a wonderful honor.
