Now, we iList Paducah ladies love us some Michael Driver! His talent, charm and good looks made him the perfect iDate of the Week for us a while back. These aforementioned qualities are not lost on most of the female persuasion. So it was no surprise to us when we found out he is now keeping company with some very special ladies…three “Golden Ladies” to be exact, aka Emmy Awards.
On Saturday, July 31, Michael was awarded not one, not two, but yes, three Emmys at the 47th Annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards for his work as News Photojournalist at Louisville’s WHAS 11.
Driver won in the following categories:
Driver began his career at just 17 as a camera man for Paducah’s WPSD Local 6 station. “I had a friend that worked there and I asked him if they needed any help, which they did.” He explains. “I didn’t really have aspirations of being a photojournalist at the time. But I discovered the job came somewhat naturally to me and I progressed from there.”
After spending almost 11 years at WPSD, Driver relocated to Louisville in 2010 to work as a Photojournalist for WHAS. In addition to this year’s Emmy awards, he was honored as both 2010 Kentucky News Photographer of the Year and 2010 National Press Photographers Association Regional Photographer of the Year, both very prestigious awards as well. He was also named Best Photographer for the 2009 and 2010 Paducah 48 Hour Film Festival for his work with Phocus Media, the team that produced the Best Film for both years.
Having worked with Michael on the 48 Hour film festivals, I can attest to his great talent. He really does have an amazing eye for framing that perfect shot and telling a story through his camera lens. Three Emmys couldn’t have been awarded to a more deserving and down-to-earth guy. HIs success in his career is as great as his love for his friends, family and good ‘ol Marshall County, where he was born and raised. Although he now lives in Louisiville, you’ll catch him visiting this area often…most likely hanging out with his favorite little lady of all – niece Marley. She loves her some Michael Driver, too.
