Yep, it's Suzanne, Patience and me. Cute, cute, cute Adam Shull of the Sun's Current section, out today, is asking local bloggers to answer questions that he'll pose to us each week — and then he includes a link to our blogs. Yippee! And hello to any new visitors! Welcome!
The question this week asks if rising gas prices have changed how we feel about our cars. My answer: No. I love my little car. I bought it in February 2004, right before Bruce, my now-husband but then just potential-husband, came to visit me for the first time out in San Francisco. I was determined to make him my husband, so I totally wanted to impress him. I figured a little silver sports car would go a long way toward achieving my mission.
I know what you're thinking. How pathetic, right? How expensively pathetic.
Oh, but that's not all. Surveying my then-apartment, I figured it could use a quick makeover, too. So my very dear friend Eddie Herrador, he makes everything gorgeous, helped by clearing out the whole place, repainting all the walls and then replacing everything with brand-new stuff. Everything. New furniture. New rugs. New dishes. Even the magazines by my new night stand.
We were our very own version of Queer Eye for the Straight Girl Who Wants to Snag a Husband from Paducah.
"Kitten," he said. He calls me Kitten. "Kitten, I bought you Discover and Science, because we want him to think that you're super smart. And I also bought you Oprah, so that he can see your softer side."
Ah yes, I could just picture me curled up with the latest copy of Science, reading all about recombinant DNA cloning. Right-o.
Before Bruce arrived the first weekend of March, we had the car, the apartment and the magazines covered. The rest was pretty much up to me. And Bruce, of course. And, as fate and the many trips to Crate and Barrel would have it, by January of the next year Eddie was planning our wedding and I was making plans to move to Paducah. So there you have it. Or at least part of it. There was also my friend Leslie's mother's funeral involved. But that's a different story.
OK, for next week, Adam has asked us to describe our favorite Paducah-area festival. I'll probably focus on the LowerTown Art and Music Festival, and I need your help! Here's my question to you:
If you could have any kind of booth or event at that festival, what would it be? Mix Your Own Martinis booth? Manicures and Pedicures booth? What awesome booths or displays or events would send that amazingly fun festival right over the top?
Use the comment button below for your answers. I'll then invite the festival organizers to pick their favorite! The winner receives...yes, yes...an iList Paducah T-shirt! We'll pick the winner by Monday, so bring on your ideas soon!
By the way — thanks for visiting this blog. I really appreciate it, and I hope you find some fun things here. Be sure to visit Suzanne's and Patience's blogs, too. You'll always find fun things from those fab gals!
