Not Your Mama's Girl Scout…

I love Jean Rhodes. Gorgeous, smart, original, athletic. All tattoo'd up and always wearing some totally and effortlessly cool outfit. When she's not at the rink, you'll find this Radioactive City Roller Girl at Etcetera Coffeehouse, dreaming up hot coffee drinks and baking muffins and quiche. She's among several celebrity chefs on board for Desserts First Paducah, a new fundraiser for our local Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana group. Set for 6-8:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Carson Center, Jean and her mom Johanna will compete against the likes of lovely Laura Duff, Max and Ben of Max's, David Boggs of Paducah Renaissance Alliance, Dale Perry of the Good Ol' Boys and others who'll be creating amazing desserts using, yep, Girl Scout cookies. Event attendees will sample each and vote on their favorites. Hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and a silent auction are included, too. Tix are just $30, with corporate tables available for $1,000.
