Hands On St. Nick - A Makeover

Come help us give this 20 year old organization a NEW LOOK! Help us paint, clean, organize and create a welcoming environment for our patients and the community.

Specific needs include: taping & mudding supplies, paint & artwork groupings, rugs, blinds & plants/interior foliage, soft fluorescents, baby changing station (x2), office organizers, L-shape desk, chairs, coffee tables, flooring – wood laminate & vinyl or tile, and volunteers.

Having served almost 7,000 patients since opening in 1994, St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic has made a significant impact on the health of our community and region. We are looking forward to giving back to the clinic by recruiting local businesses and volunteers to help lay new floors, freshen the walls with new paint, and organize the space for people to be proud of. Sweet Colleen Paxton Nabs Top Writing Award!

A big whoop whoop to cutie Colleen Paxton — she received her first writing award from Western Baptist Hospital the other day.

imageA senior at Paducah Tilghman High School and writer for The Tilghman Bell (the old stomping ground of this OTHER very famous and BRIGHT Tilghman senior), Colleen has been awarded the 2010 Healthcare Writing Award. Western Baptist and the Bell partnered this year on healthcare articles.

“Lifestyle choices that students make now can affect their health for years to come,” says Dona Rains, Western Baptist marketing director, “so we worked with the Bell to create articles of interest to teens and their families.”

Paxton interviewed Western Baptist physicians on topics ranging from obesity to sleep issues. She plans to attend Washington and Lee University.
