Well, nearby anyway….
We love us some WKMS over here at iList Paducah, so we’re always eager to promote all the good things that our local NPR station is up to. Latest on their fabulous list: Grammy-nominated The Grascals with special guests Youngtown. The concert is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, at Murray State’s Lovett Auditorium. Tix are $20. Buy ‘em by calling 800.745.3000 or just go to ticketmaster.com.
The show is part of Lovett Live and WKMS Presents: Music From the Front Porch 2011.
Here’s the scoop from the ol’ press release:
The Grascals are a six-piece bluegrass band from from Nashville. Founded in 2004, the band has since gained a level of notability by playing on the Grand Ole Opry and in bluegrass festivals around the country.
In 2005 the band won the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Emerging Artist of the Year Award, as well as the SPBGMA’s Bluegrass Band of the Year award in 2010. Their albums have featured artists such as Dolly Parton, George Jones and Dierks Bentley, with their most recent 2010 album, The Famous Lefty Flynn’s, including the single “The Last Train to Clarksville.”
According to Music from the Front Porch co-host Mark Welch, “The Grascals are one of the hottest Bluegrass groups of 2010. Traditional bluegrassers and country fans will get their money’s worth for this live performance!”
The concert will also feature youth bluegrass band Youngtown. These Nashville teens range from 14 to 19, but their performances of bluegrass classics and gospel display talent beyond their ages.
