Hands On St. Nick - A Makeover
St. Nicholas Family Clinic
1901 Kentucky Ave.
8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Come help us give this 20 year old organization a NEW LOOK! Help us paint, clean, organize and create a welcoming environment for our patients and the community.

Specific needs include: taping & mudding supplies, paint & artwork groupings, rugs, blinds & plants/interior foliage, soft fluorescents, baby changing station (x2), office organizers, L-shape desk, chairs, coffee tables, flooring – wood laminate & vinyl or tile, and volunteers.

Having served almost 7,000 patients since opening in 1994, St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic has made a significant impact on the health of our community and region. We are looking forward to giving back to the clinic by recruiting local businesses and volunteers to help lay new floors, freshen the walls with new paint, and organize the space for people to be proud of. Featuring JLF Interior Designs.

Two Great Art Shows Coming Up

I just found out last night that my all-time favorite combination basketball player/DJ/photographer/mountain climber/all-around-great-kid Lily Shapiro will be featured in the Yeiser Art Center Members Show, with the opening reception 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12. Her photo above, "Ant Lily," (yes, that's an ant — and it's really amazing close up!) will be hung along with art from other Yeiser members. So be sure to stop in on your way to the opening night of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, where more great art will be displayed in the Carson Center lobby. And yet more art will be featured at Maiden Alley Cinema, 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17! Don't miss the Easter Seals Art & Soul Celebration, with featured artist Ricky Harris. That's him, above, with Charlotte Irwin. We did a story on the event with a list of the auction items last week, including a few comments from Char on her work with Ricky. “I love that Easter Seals clients are, in general, totally free from inhibition in art making,” Char says. “This is where real art making occurs — when students work intuitively and create instead of trying to make something pretty.” Cool, huh? Tickets are $20 and include hors d'oeuvres, libations and music by DJ Urban Kobbb. Purchase by calling 443.1200. See you at both shows!
