Hands On St. Nick - A Makeover
St. Nicholas Family Clinic
1901 Kentucky Ave.
8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Come help us give this 20 year old organization a NEW LOOK! Help us paint, clean, organize and create a welcoming environment for our patients and the community.

Specific needs include: taping & mudding supplies, paint & artwork groupings, rugs, blinds & plants/interior foliage, soft fluorescents, baby changing station (x2), office organizers, L-shape desk, chairs, coffee tables, flooring – wood laminate & vinyl or tile, and volunteers.

Having served almost 7,000 patients since opening in 1994, St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic has made a significant impact on the health of our community and region. We are looking forward to giving back to the clinic by recruiting local businesses and volunteers to help lay new floors, freshen the walls with new paint, and organize the space for people to be proud of. Featuring JLF Interior Designs.

Year of the Ox: Tenacity

It's the Year of the Ox. And, according to Christi Bonds M.D. — she's a goddess and knows all about these kinds of things — those born in the Year of the Ox are known for tenacity. I'd say just about everyone has shown an incredible amount of tenacity during this past week's ice storm. However, folks born in 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985 and 1997 are all considered Ox (Oxen?). They're dependable, calm, methodical, patient, hardworking, ambitious, conventional, steady, modest, logical, resolute and, according to Christi, have an extra helping of tenaciousness than the rest of us. So what can we expect in this Ox Year? "This is a year for staying the course," Christi says. "Be patient, and persevere in the endeavors you started in 2008. That was the Year of the Rat, which was a time for being bold and trying new things. This year is certain to be a year of steady growth and historic developments!" To celebrate the Year of the Ox, Christi invites everyone to her 2nd Annual Chinese New Year's Party, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at her HeART of Healing Gallery. The address is 233 North 7th St., though the gallery door is on Monroe. Chong's will cater, and Christi will have all sorts of Chinese papercuts, peasant paintings and other fabulous art on display and for sale. Please stop by and gather up some good fortune. We could all use a little more of that these days!
