iLove it
We know you single folks are busy. iList Paducah's Mary Thorsby goes on that first date so you don't have to!

November 1, 2009

Aaron Loveland

alt textThe 53 Annual Telethon of Stars is around the corner, with lots of great performers including Ball in the House! Meet the very hunky a capella singer Aaron Loveland and plan to hear him at the Carson Center, Nov. 14-15!

Aaron Loveland, you are cute, cute, cute, no doubt about it. With a name like that, you must come from Land of the LOVE!
Well thank you, thank you, thank you ;) Yup, Loveland. I do come from the Land of Love, better known as Washington, DC. More like the land of politics, traffic and monuments.

Right on! Tell us about the amazing a capella group Ball in the House. How did the group come together?
Ball in the House has been around as a professional touring band for about 10 years, and has had lots of different members. I auditioned and got in the band in March 2002.

alt textHow do you describe the band?
We describe ourselves as a soul-pop/R&B band that happens to have no instruments.

How did you get interested in music?
I have always been into music. My father was a hard rock guitarist and my mother was a singer growing up. Music was always and still is a BIG part of our family.

Where are you from?
I am originally from the Washington, DC, area. My family is still there. But I live in Boston now.

alt textWhat was the name of your first band?
Oh man, funny question. I was in a band in middle school called Beat. We only knew how to play one song, Paradise City by Guns & Roses… HAHAHAH

What was the first song you wrote?
Wow, I don’t really know. I had (still do) a black and white notebook that I would write all my little songs in as a kid.

Ball in the House has performed all over the place. What are some of your most favorite gigs?
We’ve been so fortunate over the years to have done some pretty amazing things. Doing the TODAY Show on NBC last May was pretty incredible. Opening for huge acts like The Beach Boys and Gladys Knight was unforgettable.

But I think the most personal and favorite gigs are the ones where we have made close friends — like in Paducah for the 53 Annual Telethon of Stars.

alt textAh, that’s so sweet! Do women just swoon over you all the time?
We do have our fair share of female fans. It’s still pretty weird, as we’re really normal, down to earth guys. It’s a really unusual feeling to have someone be your “fan.”

Are you all constantly on the road?
We do an average of 250 show per year. We’re ALWAYS on the road and have been all over the U.S. We’ve also been to Canada and Singapore.

What do you love about being in the band?
I love that I have the opportunity to bring music to people. I feel really blessed to be able to travel, meet people and do this for a living. And I am honored to do this with the guys that I sing with.

Really? You all get along well?
Yes. They are all incredible musicians and even more importantly great guys. I think the fellowship may be the true blessing.

alt textWhat’s the most difficult part?
It’s difficult to be away and on the road all the time. Living in hotels and out of suitcases. It’s hard being away from family. I think, for me, it’s hard because for the most part we’re always “on,” always at work. There is SO much to be done in terms of business. I love it, but it can be overwhelming.

What do you do when you’re not playing music?
I LOVE to cook. I’m a little obsessed with food, cooking and all things culinary. I love love love down time with friends and am still and always will be totally in love with Boston! Great city to just walk and explore.

What’s next for Ball in the House?
We’re just gonna keep doing what we do: Make music and push forward ;).
