Aaron Severns

You’ve seen him on Update Update dishing out the latest happenings on everything we love to hate on Facebook. Now meet Aaron Severns, Paducah’s most eligible man about town AND the Interwebs! Channing Langston reports!

Aaron, or Sevy (or just Sev if you’re feeling lazy) is a one my favorite guy pals. He’s the best of both worlds – a guy’s guy who loves the Tenneessee Volunteers more than you love your mama – yet he can dress himself, and can DANCE (if you can coax him into it). I sat down with Aaron at Shandies one afternoon to ask him all my best Oprah questions.

Channing: Sevy, what are three things you wish people knew about you? 
Aaron: I hate my voice. I’m not convinced some shit won’t go down in 2012, and….I can’t skate.

What is your favorite joke?
Your Mom.

You are a huge wrestling fan! Who are some of your favorites growing up, and now?
Ric Flair and of course Hulk Hogan. These days its Randy Orton.

How did you become a Vols fan?
“From the womb to the tomb.”  My parents divorced when I was little, and I grew up with the UT side of the family.

You guys (including Jake Bell, Keven Kleipeis and Curt Stewart) have always been hilarious – some of the funniest people I know. How did you guys come up with Update Update?
Curt sent me a text message one afternoon back in January that just said, “Be at Jake’s at 6 p.m. We’re gonna shoot a video.” Thats literally all in the information I had going in. 

What’s been the most interesting thing that has happened since the popularity of Uu?
Kevin was recognized! He was at work one day, and a total stranger recognized him from the videos. It’s probably because of his overly large nose. And the way he smells.

Story Time:
Late one drunken night Sev and I were watching the Food Network (what else is on at 2 a.m. that isnt an infomercial?) and happened across one of those showcases that does clips of different resturants around the country and what they’re famous for. I saw this big Southern woman making biscuits during the opening promo, and just KNEW those were gonna be some dang good biscuits. So I tell Sevy, “Let’s find this place and eat breakfast there!” Come to find out it was Carol Faye, the Biscuit Lady from the Loveless Cafe in Nashville. So a few weeks later we got up early one Sunday morning, drove down there and ate the magic biscuits! It’s not often you have friends who are willing to go the extra mile to make a fun wish into a reality.

Sevy: It was a magical day. Those biscuits WERE good. And the rest of the food, too!

C:Some of my favorite random facts about Aaron:
His favorite movies are Star Wars, Fight Club and Memento. He loves video games, namely Elder Scrolls IV, and he religiously watches the WWF (WWE? I dont even know what its called anymore – wrastlin’ maybe) matches, and will even explain things to you as it goes along (in the nice helpful way, of course), and his biggest pet peeve about dating is girls “trying too hard.”

What sound or noise do you love?
A large crowd just going hayware for some reason. Just the big roar of a happy crowd.

What sound or noise do you hate?
When you run a finger down the page of a paper back book

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
High school social studies teacher and coach

What profession would you NOT want to be? Kevin’s underwear

If Heaven exists, what would you like God to say to you at the Pearly Gates?
