Audrey Yates
Introducing my best friend, Audrey Yates. The shy little girl I met in the 3rd grade has become a beautiful woman that I’m so proud to know. One of the most grounded, down to earth, dedicated people you’d ever care to meet, I sat down with Audrey to get her to talk about her fabulous self!
Channing: Describe yourself in 5 words
Audrey: Creative. Kind. Sarcastic. Nerdy (but the good kind). Funny.
Channing: I would have picked silly, caring, smart, loyal, and maybe silly again.
If you could be any movie character who would you play and why?
Audrey: My first instinct was Maria in Sound of Music, but my next thought was Sandy from Grease. Either would be great to be honest, but if I were Maria, I’d have to escape from my amazing new life from the Austrian government with 7 kids and that’s not as fun as flying away in a convertible with Danny Zuko.
Channing: You, like me, come superglued to a cell phone. What ringtones do you have on your phone?
Addams Family theme, Beautiful Disaster, Blue Eyes, Bones theme, The Big Bang theme, Guts theme, Killer Tofu , Pure Imagination, Al Green- Let’s Stay Together..and a few more less notables.
Channing: I noticed a “theme” theme. I’ll take it those are some favorite shows of yours. You just need the Gilmore Girls theme!
You’re a full time student at Murray State, just over a month shy of graduating with a degree in Psychology. What makes you love psych?
Audrey: I love that psychology gives me some kind of explanation as to why people behave in the ways they do. Even if it’s just a hint of reason. I like that it can be used to explore the mysteries of people. As dumb as that may sound, I see people as mysteries I want to figure out and the key to that is psychology. Well, that or alcohol, cause people will tell you anything while drunk. But psychology is less likely to end up with puking. :)
Channing: You spend a lot of time with your family - If you had an uninterrupted weekend, where location and money were not an object, but you were alone, what would you do?
Audrey: Sleep. Read. Take pictures. Because I’d be in Greece and why would I not take pictures? Sleep more. Watch the stars. Ya know, that kind of thing.
Channing: Audrey is a fantastic photographer! She’s just getting started with her business, Audacious Images. What about photography inspires you?
Audrey: When I take a picture I want to capture a moment for someone. Which sounds cliche, but in that photo, I want a person to be taken back to that exact moment. I want to capture who a person is with the click of my camera.
Channing: You’re such a sap! Where do you see yourself in 15 years?
Audrey: I don’t know where I see myself in 15 years, but I hope it involves a family of my own and happiness. Ill be 40 (oh god..) so I want to be in a place that I’m happy with and around people that don’t bring me down. I also want a photography studio.
Channing: Thanks Audrey! My turn…
The things that I think would make Audrey happy in a guy range from the usual: smile, funny, good sense of humour to the unique: love of board games, family oriented, ability to stay out of her craft supplies, etc.
A few of my favorite things about Audrey:
- She loves pickles and french fries way more than she’d probably care to admit.
- She doesnt own normal socks. Every pair are holiday themed, polka doted, striped, covered in butterflies, etc. Its always a guessing game when I look at her feet!
- She collects postcards, and has them from all over the world. While most people love expsensive presents - she’d rather have a few postcards.
- She never lost her child-like ability to doodle. Im such her professors love the facts that her notes are covered in silly flowers and designs.
- She has an endless capacity for love. Her family, her friends, her god-children, down to her two adorable dogs - you’ve never met someone so full of love in your life!
