Blair Blumenberg

Blair Blumenberg is a study in opposites who firmly believes opposites attract.  She’s a shop-a-holic and an avid angler, a comic book nerd and an amateur fashion designer. She’s also adorable, confident and looking for someone who wants a not-so-very-typical girl next door.  Here are ten things to know about Blair!

  1. Like me, you’re a transplant to Paducah. I’m constantly fielding the question, “So how DID you get to Paducah?” It’s my turn to ask that question of someone else. Blair, how DID you get to Paducah? What brought you here, and where did you come from?

Well I came here from the big town of East Prairie, Missouri…E.P. is a small country town and Paducah is huge to me.. At the time I had a bf that lived close to here and I started roller derby..so I was driving over here at least 4 times a week. I was like i might as well move over here so I found a roommate, the next day found a job, moved in, then day four started my job…I moved here pretty fast but thats how I am whenever I put my mind to it..I usually get it done.

  2. alt textAre you a “dog person” or a “cat person”? With that said, do you think opposites attract?

I’m a dog person all the way! I’ve always had dogs, and I love playing with them but there are only a couple of cats that I have liked. I do think that opposites attract. I often end up liking men who are my opposite.

  3. I heard a rumor you like to fish. Girls who fish are typically pretty big hits with the menfolk, and I have to ask, on behalf of all the eligible bachelors out there, what’s the biggest fish you’ve landed with that pink rod and reel of yours?

Once I caught a catfish that was as big as my arm!  Every time I go fishing with the guys, I always end up catching more fish than they do, but I can’t help that I’m good at it

  4. alt textIn addition to packing a mean punch on the lake, you’re also a self-proclaimed “biggest nerd ever” who collects comic books and plays video games. Are you an old-school Superman/Nintendo nerd, or are you more cutting edge?

I love it all! I love the old school comics and video games, and the new ones, too. I started reading G.I. Combat which was made in the 60’s; then I went on to The Crow, The Punisher, and Sin City. Now, I’m into Fables and The Grimm Fairy Tales. As for video games, I started playing those when I was a itty bitty thing. Dad had Zelda and Mario, so I would play those. Then, I got a Sega and started playing Sonic the Hedgehog. I’ve had almost every game system known, but now I have a 360 and I love Call of Duty and New Vegas.

  5. alt textYou work at the fabulous Jasmine Thai restaurant, and you mentioned you enjoy cooking. If you wanted to really impress a potential man friend, what sort of magic would you whip up in the kitchen?

It would depend on what kind of food he likes. I’m not a picky girl when it comes to eating.  Growing up, I learned the art of down home cooking, but as I got older, I experimented with everything, so I can cook almost anything you throw at me. I would tailor-make a meal specifically to fit my date’s tastes!

  6. Let’s say you’re marooned on a desert island in the middle of the Ohio river. In addition to your pink fishing pole, what three items would you want with you?

Fresh water.  Definitely my iPod. I need music…I love all kinds and I listen to it all day everyday! I would also need a friend, because I sure wouldn’t want to be out there by myself. We could build shelter and hunt for food.

  7. Now let’s say you could add some graffiti to the flood wall. What words of wisdom would you impart to the masses?

“Be Confident.” I hate seeing how girls I know are not confident in themselves and their potential. I’m not out there, worried every single day that I’m not going to find someone; I just be myself, and if someone likes it and wants to get to know me, then great! But if not, I’m not going to worry about it. I do like to work out and eat right, but I don’t go to extremes to try and change myself for someone.

  8. alt textWhen you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Now that you’re grown up, what do you want to be when you grow up?

I wanted to be a fashion designer. I love to draw and sew clothing. Now as an adult, I’d still love to be one, but I’d have to move away from this area, and right now, I’m liking it here. And that’s fine, because there are still so many things I’d like to try!

  9. Fill in the blanks: I may be me, but I will never be someone I’m not.

  10. Men who are cocky, arrogant, or annoying need not apply.
