Sean Ellis

Sean Ellis

We’ve been working on getting one of Cynthia’s cutest waiters, Sean Ellis, to agree to be iDate of the Week for months now. He apparently wanted to save us all from himself – but we wore him down with our trademarked persistance! He was kind enough to share the following things about himself (hint: win him over with movies and music!)

  • I don’t like talking about myself because I tend to give very lengthy answers to questions, so I just end up sounding very full of myself.

  • My favorite food is fried chicken and my favorite snack is popcorn.

  • I’m a confirmed Pepsi person; I’ll drink a Coke if it’s the only thing around, but to me, Coke wants to be Pepsi when it grows up.

  • I play lead guitar in Monkeyfinger and am putting together another band in which I play bass and sing. I have also sat in on drums with another band recently.

  • Music is and has always been my passion. When I’m not rehearsing or playing with bands (and when I’m not working at Cynthia’s and Gold Rush) I write and record my own music at home.

  • I started reading and comprehending at the age of three. Reading is another lifelong passion of mine.

  • I’m not a terribly competitive person by nature…unless I’m playing a trivia game.

  • I’m the guy all my friends come to when they need an answer to a question or advice. When my phone rings, I never know if I’m going to be naming a music video for someone or helping them gain perspective regarding some recent large event in their lives.

  • Christopher Nolan is my favorite director ever because his movies require me to think while I watch them.

  • Tom Cruise is one of my least favorite actors, yet Vanilla Sky is one of my all-time favorite movies.

  • If I discover that a movie I really enjoy is based upon another, more obscure picture, I will seek out the other picture even if it’s a foreign film.

  • I hang on every line of dialogue when I watch a movie. So when watching at home, I always activate the subtitles. This also makes it easier to watch foreign films.

  • My favorite thing about DVD/Blu-Ray are the special features and commentaries. If a movie I’ve bought has a director’s commentary track, I will watch the flick first, then immediately watch it a second time, listening to the commentary track.

  • I don’t watch much tv, but on Monday nights, I go hang with one of my best friends who Tivos House, Californication, Dexter and The Walking Dead.

  • I am one of the few people I know who love Star Wars and Star Trek equally.

  • I hate sports. I just don’t see the appeal.

  • I can tell you more than you ever wanted to know about Pink Floyd. Dozens of other bands, too; but I like to joke that I have my PhD in Pink Floyd.

  • I was a contributing writer to Spare Bricks, a Pink Floyd webzine, every issue of which was printed out by the curator of The Pink Floyd Archives and inserted into the collection.
