Zach Stevens
He’s back in Paducah! After graduating from Middle Tennessee State’s prestigious Recording Industry program, devastatingly darling DJ Fallout — Zach Stevens, 25 — invites us to Get Up On The Downstroke!, Saturday, Oct. 10, at KC’s Rec Room!
- I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University’s prestigious Recording Industry program. It’s like applying to med school. They only accept 50 students each semester out of 300-400 that apply and I got in on my first try.
- I had some special guest professors during college including Al Gore and hip-hop pioneer, KRS-One. The Sublime song about KRS-One is all true.
- I am a DJ. I sometimes spin as DJ Tanner, but more recently I’ve taken the name DJ Fallout, after the uranium plant. I spin a lot of dub, old school and new funk, hip-hop, mashups, and trip-hop and a little bit of electronic stuff. Sometimes you can catch me at an open mic night! Working on getting some gigs in town.
- My first gig is coming up Saturday, Oct. 10, at KC’s Rec Room for a certain special someone’s birthday. It’s gonna be a funky good time! It’s free and open to the public, so come with it!
- Before coming back to Paducah, I worked in the marketing/new media department at Universal Records in Nashville. I worked on marketing campaigns for George Strait, Sugarland, Shania Twain, Willie Nelson, Ryan Adams, Gary Allan and a few other artists on our roster! It was my dream job until I got laid off! I am not a fan of country especially the “new” Nashville sound but it still rocked!
- And yes, Shania Twain is gorgeous.
- I sang “Free Falling” by Tom Petty with the CEO of Warner Music Group’s distribution division, WEA, at a party once. Thank God You Tube wasn’t created yet! It came out the next year!
- I play a variety of instruments such as guitar, bass guitar, synthesizers and sequencers (electronic music instruments, basically) and turntables — yes, they are an instrument, in my opinion. I have banged on the drums some, but I can’t do too much at once.
- I have lived on the west side of every town I have ever lived in! I have no idea why. Maybe because I love the West Coast and feel it makes me that much more closer to it! Not really, just a thought!
- I moved back to Paducah, Ky., about a year ago where I currently work TWO jobs until I can find something permanent! It’s been tough out there! So if you are reading this and you have an opening for a FULL-TIME position, get a hold of me!
- I work for Swift & Staley Mechanical through a temp agency (40 hrs. a week) and part-time at Best Buy in their mobile phone department. I am also a committee member for the Paducah Summer Festival, which is going to only get better in the years ahead!
- I love mountain biking and hiking — anything that has me outdoors and being active.
- Kirchhoff’s Bakery is the greatest place in the world to get my fix! No one makes a better chess square.
- I have been to 145 concerts since I was 16 and I have every ticket stub to prove it. Not including nine music festivals since graduating from high school.
- I have worked at the Bonnaroo Music Festival for four years. It was a great experience and I got to meet a lot of amazing people and artists. This past year I didn’t work, but I did rock a backstage pass, which is way better than working at the festival! Can anyone say FREE SHOWERS?
- The farthest I have traveled to see a concert was San Francisco to see My Morning Jacket in 2007. I love that city so much I went back in August of the same year to see the reunited band, Rage Against the Machine. They happened to be playing with the Wu-Tang Clan!
- I don’t have kids, but I do have two little sisters who are 9 and 11. I am 25. My mom likes to space us out! I love them to death and they are the cutest! I hope to never see them on iDate though! Not until they are at least 40!
- I never liked playing golf, but this year my New Year’s resolution was to try to take golf seriously and give it a shot. Now I am addicted! I definitely still have a long way to go with it.
- I love to travel although I have never been out of the country. Hope to one day — maybe after I get a full-time job and collect some vacation time!
- By the way, did I mention that I am looking for a permanent full-time job?
