Hottest Halloween Parties: My Best Picks!

alt text

From a Community of Women’s Masquer-AID to the Harrah’s, iList Paducah and Electric 96.9 Halloween Bash costume contest (they’ve got $1,000 in cash prizes!) — and everything in between — Paducah’s got some hot Halloween action.

Don’t stay home handing out candy to strangers. Here’s where you need to be, showing off your hottest Halloween get-ups:

THURSDAY, OCT. 29

alt textMasquer-Aid Bash
Maiden Alley Cinema
112 Maiden Alley
6 p.m.
Don your favorite mask and join A Community of Women in hosting a fundraiser for Guardian Family Services, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Maiden Alley Cinema. Tickets are $20, including wine, beer, appetizers and great door prizes. Don’t miss the auction of beautiful masks made by talented local artists. The evening culminates with the showing of V-Day’s and Point of View’s What I Want My Words to Say to You.

FRIDAY, OCT. 30

alt textRiver City Eagles Halloween Bash
1919 Cairo Rd.
5 p.m.
The local Fraternal Order of the Eagles is looking for new members, and invites people to come check out the Aerie. And yes, my daddy is Worthy President and that’s one reason he gets the plug. I love my daddy! But anyway, there will be drink specials, a steak dinner (at 5 p.m.), costume contest and music by the band Southern Breeze (starting around 8 p.m.) Aaand…you can smoke in there.

alt textRocky Horror Picture Show
Maiden Alley Cinema
7 p.m.
This one of my favorite movies of all time, and I’m so glad Maiden Alley is doing it. Of course, I saw it in Louisville where they make you go onstage if you’re a “Rocky Virgin” and pledge yourself to decadence and sins of the flesh — but it’s always a good time. Singalongs are encouraged! Doors open at 7 p.m., music from Zombie Chickens from Outer Space, Teenage Rehab and Voyage of Slaves starts at 8 p.m., with the movie directly following. $10, includes prop bag for acting out cool movie moments and drink specials ALL night!

SATURDAY, OCT. 31

alt textFour Rivers Harley Davidson Fall Festival
3005 Old Husbands Rd.
11 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Food by Backwoods BBQ, music from the Tommy Akers Band and Lock and Load, tattoos in the lounge by In-Skin Studio, chainsaw carving by Jeff Bharte and trick or treating for the kids!

alt textSmith’s Grove/Halloween Bash
Etcetera Coffeehouse
320 North 6th St.
7 p.m.
Prefer a lovely bubble tea to a stiff pour of bourbon? Then spend Halloween at Etcetera, where the baristas are always whipping up a strong brew and the music is always fresh.

alt textThe Sanctuary Lounge
2083 Irvin Cobb Dr.
8 p.m.
How’s this for a Halloween lineup? Some Skank, Fahrenheit 514, The Dishwashers and The Independents, all under one roof. The Independents are a Horror-ska band from South Carolina that used to be managed by Joey Ramone himself — I will definitely make this show. I caught them many years ago at the Armory, and my traitorous groupie blood caused me to make out with lead singer Evil Presely…but he had been hitting on me during their cover of Danzig’s “Mother” — how can a girl resist that? $10. Come early, open to all ages. Located inside Bobby’s Inkslingers.

alt textHarrah’s, iList Paducah & Electric 96.9 Halloween Bash
Harrah’s Metropolis Riverfront Event Center
8 p.m.
It’s the region’s biggest and best Halloween Bash, sponsored by Harrah’s, iList Paducah and Electric 96.9! $1,000 in Costume Contest best prizes: $600 first place, $250 second place and $150 third place. Appetizers, drink specials and music by AJ and Mitch! Plus the iList Paducah girls, Mary and Nikki, will be there. It’s the Halloween party you can’t afford to miss! And only $5! (If you can’t tell by all the exclamation points, I got that one from Mary.)

alt textThird Annual Boo Bash
Upstairs at Martin Fierro
314 Broadway
9 p.m.
Hosted by the 20/30 Group, it’s just $10 a person/$15 a couple if you wear a costume, but if you’re lame-o with no costume, you have to pay $15 per person/$20 per couple. Door price gets you a drink ticket and lots of music and prizes for best costume. The event is sponsored by 94.7FM and Creatures of Habit, and we love them, so get your costume there!

alt text Solid Rock-it Boosters Honky Tonk Stomp
Doe’s Eat Place
9 p.m.
Pitch a Hillbilly Boogie Woogie on Halloween. Costumes, Booze and Rockabilly Rowdiness. Gonna be SCARY.

alt textGreysin
Fat Moe’s Halloween Bash
902 Broadway
9 p.m.
With live music by hottest band of the moment, Greysin, costume contests, drink specials and all sorts of good drunken times in the courtyard, this is definitely a great place to get your ghoul on.

alt textTabatha & Southern Fryd
Pure Country
4101 Clarks River Rd.
Kick it with Tabatha & Southern FRY’d at this Halloween Hoedown!

alt textMarket Square Massacre 2
Toucan’s and Tribeca
9 p.m.
It’s hard to beat a night with hot DJs. Cosmic Vibe Alliance brings us just that — 10 of them in two venues — Toucan’s and Tribeca. It’s Market Square Massacre 2, the hot mess follow-on to last year’s original! Check out Jen-Z, Purvis, Pete-Pan, Tony Foo Yong, Kid Kosher, Ussery, Dienda, Den-E, DJ Urban Kobbb and G.I.J. — they’ll rock your face off. $5 cover, 21 with ID. Costume contest and prizes.

{replace}Lincoln Hawk
45 Down Under
1952 Lone Oak Rd.
10 p.m.
I’m a sucker for outlaw country music, and local band Lincoln Hawk does it best. With original music and covers of everything from Dust on the Bottle to God Bless Texas – not to mention all the guys are pretty damn cute, it’s one to check out. Costume contest and drink specials all night. No cover charge.

Club Ahz
3233 Clarks River Rd.
10 p.m.
You know if anyone can celebrate Halloween right, it’s the fun and fabulous drag queens who have made sparkles and big hair practically a religion. Of course, drink specials, drag show and great ass-shakin music.
