Bidding on Artwork and Jewelry
Easter Seals welcomes sealed bids on the auction items. If any of the above catches your eye, send an email to Sarah Bynum.

Submit Your Art!
There’s still a few days left for all non-professional artists to submit ready-to-hang paintings, drawings, photography and fiber arts. Just bring them to the Easter Seals, 2229 Mildred St., before September 9. There’s no entry fee.

The judges are Michael Crouse, owner of Broken Stone Press; Nikki May, owner of Blue Frog Designs and Maurie McGarvey, human resources director for Paducah Bank. An awards reception will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, September 12, at Sarah Roush’s studio, 126 South Second St. In-kind sponsors for the art competition include Sarah Roush, Maiden Alley Cinema and Yeiser Art Center.

Winning pieces will be featured at the Thursday, September 17 Easter Seals West Kentucky 4th Annual Heart & Soul Art Art Auction.

For more info, email Amy Nolan.

alt textIndependence Bank and VSA
The event is funded by Independence Bank and Very Special Artists (VSA), a statewide nonprofit dedicated to promoting arts, education and creative expression for all, with an emphasis on folks with disabilities.

alt textEaster Seals West Kentucky adult clients participate in VSA’s special year-round art classes. The program allows participants to learn new creative and social skills that open doors to new opportunities in the arts. Trained professionals and volunteers direct participants in exploring drama, creative movement, music, visual arts, film, photography and other arts in a way that is fully accessible to all.

alt text53rd Annual Telethon of Stars
Mark your calendars, too, for the 53rd Annual Telethon of Stars! Sponsored by the Lions Club of Paducah and WPSD Local 6, the action takes place Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 at the Carson Center to benefit Easter Seals West Kentucky in Paducah, T.L.C. of Southern Illinois, Community Developmental Services (CDS) in Martin, Tenn. and Easter Seals Southeast Missouri. All centers serve individuals with disabilities and other special needs.

“This year, more than anything, we want to highlight the courageous children and adults with special needs who have made a lasting impression in our hearts,” says Lions Club Telethon Chairman Jim McPeake. “This Telethon is their chance to tell their story, and it is a chance for us to recognize them.”

This entertaining and informative 15-hour show is free and open to the public. Guest appearances include Lew Jetton & 61 South, Jamiee English and Ray Ligon — plus Boston’s original vocal pop band and recent America’s Got Talent contestants, Ball in the House, along with other national and local performers. A complete list of stars will be announced in the next several weeks.

Lions Club members from each represented state will raise money to benefit the local centers. The Telethon of Stars is one the longest running, locally produced telethons in the country and has raised nearly 22 million dollars since its formation.
