Leadership Paducah’s Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk, Benefits Family Service Society

Leadership Paducah Class #23 hosts the first Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk, benefiting Family Service Society to help expand the agency’s dental program. $25. Register at 7 a.m.; run promptly at 8 a.m. The run starts in Stuart Nelson Park, moves to the Greenway Trail and to Noble Park then returns to Stuart Nelson. This should be a fast, flat course. Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative

Female students of all ages are invited to the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative, a free regional forum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Parents and business and community members are welcome, too! The event is designed to encourage girls to pursue these fields and to introduce them to prominent women in these disciplines. Motivational panelists include Dr. Evelyn Jones, WellSprings; Jennifer Rukavina, WPSD-TV; Jeanne Davis, UK Extension; La Donna Knoth, Marquette Barge Co.; Mary Pettus-Roland, Paducah Funeral Home; and Dianne Leveridge, Project Lead the Way. Creatures Great & Small is an art exhibition, 5-7 p.m. Curated by former Murray State University Gallery Director Becky Alley, this show is a one-of-a-kind experience for people of all ages. The 48 Hour Film Project will return to Paducah, Aug. 13-15. Filmmakers from all over the Paducah area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world for the title “Best 48 Hour Film of 2010.” Registration opens Tuesday, June 8.
