Leadership Paducah’s Awesome 80s Bash to Benefit PASAC

alt text

The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Paducah Class #25 will host an “Awesome 80’s Bash” to benefit the Purchase Area Sexual Assault Center (PASAC).  The event will be held at Harrah’s Hotel in Metropolis beginning at 7pm on June 2.

alt textThe class chose PASAC as its charity to help raise awareness of the great work the organization does in the community. “We are so blessed to have the opportunity to host an event that raises money for such a wonderful organization.  PASAC has been such a wonderful presence in our community and has assisted so many children and adults in so many profound ways that having an opportunity to show them gratitude and pay tribute to what they do is such a blessing. Class 25 was looking to hold an event that was different than other fundraising events and fun for the people attending.  The decade of the 1980s brings about memories of fun music and fun fashion, so we decided to pay tribute to that great decade and host an ‘Awesome 80s Bash,’” said Phillip Chesnut, member of Class 25.

Leadership Class 25 knows what great work PASAC does in the community and they put a great deal of hard work of their own into planning the event. “Leadership Paducah Class 25 has put in countless hours of hard work in preparation for this event.  We have spent many hours promoting the event, contacting sponsors and attendees, receiving auction items, and planning the event’s awesome entertainment.  There are many hours of work yet to come as we create decorations and get the space ready for the event,” Chesnut said.

PASAC is also very excited to partner with Leadership Paducah for this event. “PASAC is thrilled to be the benefactor of Class #25’s fundraising efforts.  As many as 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys in our region will be impacted by child sexual abuse prior to their 18th birthday.  In addition, 1 in 9 women and 1 in 33 men will be the victim of a completed or attempted rape in adulthood.  Sexual violence is a crime that knows no socio-economic demographic. The funds raised and the publicity generated by this event will enable PASAC to continue to raise awareness and provide assistance to our community through prevention efforts as well a direct treatment to those in need,” said Amy Clevidence, Associate Director of PASAC.

Tickets are $50 and may be purchased from any member of Leadership Paducah Class #25 or by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).  Come wear your best 80s gear and dance to music by Nashville’s own Rubik’s Groove and enjoy live and silent auctions, dancing, food, and fun for a great cause.

alt textAbout Leadership Paducah:
Since its inception in 1984, over 650 participants have graduated from the program. Leadership Paducah is designed to foster an in-depth understanding of Paducah-McCracken County’s many and complex interrelationships.  In their monthly day-long sessions, participants will learn about the community’s government, industry, tourism, health and education sectors, to name just a few.  Through this program, they become aware of social and economic changes, and the impact of such changes in the community.

Selection of class participants is conducted by the Leadership Paducah Foundation Board of Directors, alumni of the program.  Visit the Chamber’s website at www.paducahchamber.org or www.leadershippaducah.org or contact Stacy Thomas at the Paducah Chamber to learn more about the application process at 443.1746 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
