Color Us Paducah:  You’ll Love the Discover the Colors Coloring Book

Paducah Main Street staff and the Paducah Area Painters Alliance artists are thrilled to unveil their latest collaborative effort: the Discover the Colors of Downtown Paducah, Kentucky coloring book featuring illustrations of our historical downtown buildings.

Short history lessons of each building add to the fun storyline. Flip through the beautifully illustrated pages and you'll learn, for example, that dances were held on the rooftop garden at Hotel Irvin S. Cobb (below) in 1929, and that the River Heritage Museum was built as a bank in 1843. The museum building’s Greek Revival structure is the oldest in Paducah. Paving was removed to reveal the original brick street.

You'll also learn that the red peppermint stripe was added to a vanilla stick to create peppermint candy right at 104 Jefferson, formerly the Stutz Candy Company. And Paducah has the largest number of ghosts of any U.S. city, per capita. (We're assuming per capita people; not per capita ghosts.)

Margie Cissell Smith wrote and illustrated the book while L. Dwain Smith coordinated the project.
