Order your tix now! Just $30, with the proceeds going to Maiden Alley Cinema, which brings amazing films to our city. And to Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center, which provides a safe haven to help victims of domestic abuse create better lives for themselves.
Pretty Woman marks the eighth Chick Flick we’ve hosted at Maiden Alley. Our lead Chick Flicks sponsor is Contemporary OB/GYN, with René Advertising and iList Paducah as co-sponsors.
We have extra support this time around, thanks to our friends at Absolut Vodka, and our celebrity mixologist Brian Steffen. Brian has created a special surprise for us to sip — the Edward and Vivian!
At this Chick Flicks, we’ll be drinking so that others can eat, thanks to Absolut Vodka’s Kentucky Harvest partnership. Between now and July, for every bottle of Absolut Vodka purchased by either a restaurant, bar or a liquor store, Absolut Vodka will donate five meals to Kentucky Harvest — 60 meals per case.
Founded in 1987, Kentucky Harvest has collected and distributed more than 41 million pounds of food for those in need. Today, it serves more than 2.7 millions annually across the state.
“This is a way for us to give back locally, at a time when people really need a hand,” says Chris Webb, Absolut Vodka’s district manager. “With the economy the way it is, there are more people than ever without a job, without a home, without a meal. So we put together a program – with the help of Kentucky Harvest – that makes it very simple.”
So bottoms up to Absolut Vodka!
Join us as we do our part to help Maiden Alley Cinema, Merryman House — and now Absolut Vodka — and help us get the word out about the Kentucky Harvest program!
Plus, enter to win a $400 basket of goodies from Al’s Ratt-n-Roll and a $300 Zoom Whitening from Dr. Scott Bridges of Paducah Dental Care.

Chicks Love Chick Flicks!
The Chick Flicks series began in October 2008 with Sex and the City, which was so popular that we ended up hosting the party and showing the film two nights in a row! Since then, we’ve featured:
Steel Magnolias in November
Breakfast at Tiffany’s in December
An Officer and a Gentleman in January
Maiden Alley Night at the Oscars in February
Thelma and Louise in March
Pretty in Pink in April
We’ve also launched Guys Night Out, with The Big Lebowski in April!
Maiden Alley Cinema: The Back Story
The Paducah Film Society (PFS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was founded in 1991 by a group of arts-minded individuals who saw a need for an outlet for foreign, independent and documentary film. For the first 10 years, PFS screened one film per month: Sundays at the Cinema.
As interest increased within the community, programming expanded to multiple screenings. While the space PFS rented from Paducah’s Market House Theatre was adequate, group members were limited by how often they could present films due to the demand of the Market House’s live production programming.
They needed a new home, and in 2001, Maiden Alley Cinema was born.
Since then, Paducah Film Society (Maiden Alley Cinema) has become one of the area’s leading arts organizations, bringing the art of the film to a much wider audience. Regular weekly films, special film events, children’s programs and a vintage film series provide an ever-changing and exciting embellishment to the growing cultural community of Paducah.
