Sex, Sushi and the City Kicks Off New Chick Flicks Series!

How much do the women of Paducah love 'em some Sex and the City? So much that our original event sold out in about a week. So we decided to repeat the event the next night — and that sold out, too!

Overall, close to 300 women gathered at Maiden Alley Cinema for Cosmos and sushi on October 21 and 22, and then headed into the theatre to meet up with old friends Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha and, of course, Carrie.

The Sex, Sushi and the City party, organized by Robyn Shapiro, Jill Chambers, Landee Bryant, Pat Brockenborough and me (Mary Thorsby), served as the kick off to a Chick Flick Series at Maiden Alley Cinema.

Thanks to the support of our lead sponsor Contemporary OB/GYN, as well as our other sponsors, René Advertising and iList Paducah, we'll be showing Chick Flicks the third Tuesday of each month.

All the proceeds and ticket sales from tonight and future Chick Flicks shows and events will benefit Maiden Alley Cinema, which brings amazing films to our city. And to Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center, which provides a safe haven to help victims of domestic abuse create better lives for themselves.

Steel Magnolias is the next Chick Flick, set for Tuesday, Nov. 18, and Breakfast at Tiffany's in December. We welcome your suggestions for other favorite Chick Flicks to add to our line up.
