Dog Agility Trials: June 12-14

Did you have a blast at the Paducah Kennel Club’s Dog Show last weekend? Don’t tell me you missed it? Well, on June 12, 13 and 14, you can head on out to the Paducah Regional SportsPlex on Highway 60, just west of Kentucky Oaks Mall, and watch dogs and handlers from all over the Southeast and Midwest compete in Paducah’s own Dog Agility Trials.

Judy Johnson of Paducah directs her Standard Poodle Tessa up and over
The competition runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days, and admission is free to the public.

Dog Agility is the fastest-growing, most popular dog sport around the world. And it’s so much fun, it should just about be illegal. The dogs love, love, love it! No doubt about it.

You will see teeny dogs and humongous dogs, and handlers of every shape, size and age! Jumping, blasting through tunnels and chutes, zipping through weave poles and scaling A frames.

This is the first trial at the plush indoor venue, and the entries filled completely, with a waiting list. Vendors will sell fun stuff that you just can’t find anywhere else.

Papillon Cisco, owned by Dru Mitchell of Paducah, zooms out of the tunnel.

Again, the American Kennel Club enforces safety rules that only dogs entered in the competition are allowed on the grounds. But once you get hooked from watching, you and your dog can join us at the Paducah Kennel Club for lessons and get started in the fun!

Honest, folks. We are so lucky to have this amazing sport right here. You won’t want to miss this. It’s fun. It’s free. And it’s addictive.

See you there!
