Celebrating our area's four-legged, feathered and finned friends

Gettin’ Hitched at the Paducah Kennel Club!

What do you do if your dogs are part of your family and you’re fixin’ to get hitched?

Why you hold your wedding at the Paducah Kennel Club and let your Papillon serve as your ring bearer, of course!

alt textKennel Club members Dee Dee Mullenax and Tim Broyles invited friends and family to celebrate their marriage on a beautiful day in Paducah. The bride was radiant. The groom was a whole lot happy and just a little nervous. The Maid of Honor, Dee Dee’s daughter Heather, was lovely, and was in charge of the ring bearer, Heather’s Junior Showmanship dog, Max. The enthusiastic little Papillon pranced right up the isle doing his job, decked out in his very own tux. Max’s best buddy Booda, a Labrador/American Bulldog mix, sat with family in the front row.

The Kennel Club Meeting Room was decorated in white and purple — paw prints! In addition to the gorgeous white wedding cake was a chocolate cake in the shape of a bone. The tables sported centerpieces of stuffed dogs. It made for a fun, joyful, festive time.

alt textMax is famous for his, ummm ... vocalizations. Frequent barks, yips, and other expressions of his exuberence. He’s contagious, really. You just end up smiling when Max is around. But usually you might have a tough time getting in a word edgewise. Not for the ceremony, though. Little Max stood at attention, just as quiet as could be. When the pastor asked if anyone in the audience knew a reason that the marriage shouldn’t happen, Max stood just as tall as he could and stared the guests down with all his Papillon might.

After the ceremony, after the groom kissed the bride, so did the ring bearer. He kissed the bride, and the groom, and the Maid of Honor, and any of the guests he could reach. He looked as proud of his family as he could possibly be.

Rock on, Max!
