Puppy the Cat’s Serious Case of Puppy Love
Meet a cat named Puppy.Puppy is a beautiful 19-year-old cat. She has long, silky white hair and captivating pale green eyes, and a serious case of Puppy love for her human, Sarah. And when Sarah talks about Puppy, her face lights up with the most beautiful smile.
Sarah is 26, but she was just 7 years old when Puppy was born. They've been best friends ever since they laid eyes on one another.
“When she was young, and I was little, Puppy taught me that we all need our space," Sarah says. "But now, if I stop petting her for a minute, she reminds me.”
At 19, Puppy still plays like a kitten, especially with her catnip toy. And she can say Sarah and Moooom! If Sarah spends the night away, Puppy looks for her all over the house and cries “Sarah”!
“They are best friends, inseparable," says Sarah's mom, Debbie Manning. "Where Sarah goes, Puppy follows. Now that Puppy is older and her little bones creak, Sarah rides her in her power chair. At bedtime, she lets us know. She starts walking to the hall meowing and looking at us like ‘Come on, it's bedtime now.' Then she waits at the side of Sarah's bed till I get Sarah in and then I help her up there. She has her own pillow that she lays on when she is not on Sarah's shoulder.”“You can tell how much I like cats when you see my room.” Sarah had to raise her voice a little bit, because Puppy has turned up the volume on the purring, now that she’s sitting in Sarah’s lap.
Sarah’s room is wild! Lions, tigers, stuffed cats, likenesses of Puppy: It is fan-catastic! Puppy looks around as Sarah shows me everything, and purrs even louder. It’s clear she approves.Debbie says, “Sarah is 26 and lives here with my husband Steve and me. She is the most amazing person you'll ever meet. She has cerebral palsy but is very blessed to have her mind and most movement in her body.
"She stays home due to lack of transportation, and this cat is her best friend. So much of the world looks over her and rejects her, but Puppy loves her unconditionally...always makes her feel loved and needed. They truly have a very special relationship.”
Rock on, Puppy!
