Roxy Saltsman

The Saltsman family: Lauren (holding Roxy) McKenzie, Eden and Josh.

No Saltsman family portrait could be complete without including Roxy, their 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier. Mom Lauren, an employee of iList Paducah sponsor Paducah Dental Care, shares their special story!

Tell us about Roxy!
Roxy is a 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier with an attitude of her own. She loves being outside. She runs with me nightly, hot or cold. After dinner she knows it’s time to run and turns in circles with excitement.

In the summer she enjoys swimming and floating! Whether in her snow boots or life jacket, she’s happiest outside.

alt textHow did you get her?
Santa Claus knew exactly what this family needed! Legally Blonde was a favorite movie of my daughter, Eden. She loved how Reese Witherspoon’s character, Elle, carried her Yorkie around in her purse! Eden always thought she could play dress up and carry Roxy around. But Roxy has never liked parading around in a bag!

What do you love most about Roxy?

She is very loving. She kisses my husband Josh like a popsicle, but she likes to cuddle with me best when she is ready to settle in.

Her biggest challenge?
Roxy has never liked car rides. To this day she is very nervous when we get in the car. People have told me to take her on joy rides, not just to the vet. It just isn’t her favorite thing. She likes visiting as long as it doesn’t involve a car ride.

alt textWhat advice would you give folks thinking of adding a Yorkie to their family?
Yorkies have hyper personalities. They are good around kids because they have lots of energy and are very loving. Roxy loves playing with big sis and brother, whether it be tug or chasing a ball.

How has Roxy changed your family’s life?
Roxy is definitely part of the family. She knows exactly what time of day we get home and is always welcoming us at the door, letting us know she’s missed us.
