iLove it
Celebrating our area's four-legged, feathered and finned friends

By Patience Renzulli

December 4, 2010

Tis the Season

All right all you wonderful iPet people! I just know that y’all are snuggled up with your dogs and cats, or you’re out walking and enjoying the sunshine with your best buddy, or maybe you’re laughing out loud at something your parrot just said.

alt textIt’s time.

Time to show the universe just how much you appreciate being one of those most fortunate souls who gets to love and love and get all that lovin’ in return.

Now is the time to show a little gratitude. It’s easy. Go get your purse or wallet. Grab a bill, any bill. (Really!) A buck. Better yet, a five or a 10 or a 20. Write a check, if you want a tax deduction. Stick it in an envelope and mail it to one of the following local shelters:

Project Hope
1660 West 10th St.
Metropolis, Ill. 62960
618.524.8939

alt textThe Humane Society of Marshall County
P.O. Box 531
Benton, Ky. 42025
270.354.UPET (8738)

Mayfield/Graves County Animal Shelter
500 North 12th St.
Mayfield, Ky 42066
270.251.0130

Creatures Great & Small
PO Box 9173
Paducah, Ky. 42002
270.495.0773

alt textI could tell you what a rough year it’s been for shelters. How the economy and job losses have decreased donations and increased abandoned pets. But you already know that: you are iPet people!

So you just go on ahead and plop that moola in that envelope. Stick your holiday stamp on it. All set? Now put it in your outbox.

Wooo-hoooooo! How great did that feel? Now, if you want to, you could email me and say “I, Patty Petlover, donated to Whatever Shelter in gratitude for having Whiskers in my life.”

You don’t have to tell me how much you sent, only that you sent. From all the emails, (and I’m confident that there will be scads of ‘em), I’ll do a random drawing and someone will get an autographed copy of my book, Mama Pajama Tells A Story.

How do you like them apples! That baby sells for $24.95, and it would make a fine present if you already have a copy.

Do it now, or you’ll forget.

iPet of the Week readers: You rock!
